I seriously doubt that you will ever hear about this on the MSM airwaves or print: Men in Mexican Army Uniforms in Border Standoff, Official Says.
Men in Mexican military-style uniforms crossed the Rio Grande into the United States on a marijuana-smuggling foray, leading to an armed confrontation with Texas law officers, authorities said Tuesday. No shots were fired.
...
The confrontation on Monday took place was near Neely's Crossing, about 50 miles east of El Paso, and started when state police tried to stop three sport utility vehicles on Interstate 10. The vehicles made a quick U-turn and headed south toward the border, a few miles away, Glancey said.
Nope. No border problems here! From Inland Daily Bulletin:
Mexican Army troops had several mounted machine guns on the ground more than 200 yards inside the U.S. border -- near Neely's Crossing, about 50 miles east of El Paso -- when Border Patrol agents called for backup. Hudspeth County deputies and Texas Highway patrol officers arrived shortly afterward, Doyal said.
Men in Mexican military-style uniforms, cross into U.S. territory and set up mounted machine guns... and no one fired a shot? The military did not respond? This occurred approximately 50 miles east of El Paso. There is an Army base in El Paso, and Holloman AFB in New Mexico would be approximately 120-140 miles away, equipped with super-sonic fighter aircraft. Why were military helicopters and aircraft not called in as soon as the guns were spotted?
I'm sorry — wait, no I'm not — men in military uniform cross an international border and set up military-style fortfications with these machine guns, and I'd be calling in for some ground-thumping from the Air Force. Period. If it looks like an invasion by armed military units, even a small one, you don't have the luxury to take chances!
The Mexican Foreign Relations Department issued a statement saying that drug traffickers and other organized criminals have used uniforms and vehicles before. "It is possible that these actions were designed to damage the image of our armed forces," it said.
Repeat after me, "Snow job." It is quite difficult to damage the image of a well-known, corrupt bunch of cartel-suck-ups. And who knows? This could have been actual Mexican soldiers, on the cartel payrolls, escorting the drug shipments. My mind keeps thinking, "Just one or two snipers with a green light..."
Monday's incident follows a story in the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin in Ontario, Calif., on Jan. 15 that said the Mexican military had crossed into the United States more than 200 times since 1996. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff has said reports of Mexican incursions into the United States were overblown and most were just mistakes.
Mistakes? Michelle Malkin has a chart which details the "where and when" of known "incursions" over the past 10 years. In this period, there have been 216 "military incursions" into U.S. territory. Mistakes? My ass. Armed military units crossing an international border more than 20 times each year is not an accident.
[sarcasm] Wait a minute. Perhaps they were hapless illegal immigrants seeking U.S. cash/healthcare/education handouts and other ill-gotten freebies. [end-sarcasm]
These thugs were more heavily armed than our Border Patrol and State Police. That should send the message that either (1) our own even-better-armed military should be involved in patrolling the border; or (2) arm the Border Patrol and State Police [in these areas] with just as good, if not better, weapons. If you're not gonna shoot 'em for invading, at least intimidate the scum into rethinking their plans.
No one wants to start a war. But, come on. Use a little common sense! How long do we allow military units from a foreign country continue to trample our border? I mean, it's one thing to look the other way... but it's a completely different thing to just grab your ankles. What is this? Brokeback Border Management?
Now, where's that wall?
